Sementes (Seeds)
International Exhibition of Arts for Young Audiences
An international arts Festival for children, youth and families that culminates on World Children’s Day, June 1st, and whose privileged artistic area is theater, but also includes national and international performances of music, circus, dance, puppets and street arts, many of which have won international awards.

The Festival takes place mainly in Almada, Teatro Extremo’s headquarters; it has a networking model with several municipalities (throughout the years it has had extensions in Aveiro, Barreiro, Cascais, Castro Verde, Lisbon, Loures, Montemor-o-Novo, Moita, Odivelas, Santarém, Seixal and Sesimbra), presenting its programme in the mentioned towns’ equipment and public places.
In Almada, the event is decentralized in the municipality’s several parishes, with the goal of bridging regional and social disparities that still persist in this municipality on the outskirts of Lisbon.

MAIN ACTIVITIES
Sementes’ main activities
The main activities of this event are the presentation of indoors and outdoors performances – theatre, dance, circus, puppetry, music and street art shows – for babies, children aged 6 and over, young people aged 12 and over and family audiences.

With a view to developing audiences, we focus on an eclectic programme in terms of artistic fields, aesthetic lines, and reading levels in order to reach all audiences, regardless of their artistic habits, academic backgrounds, or socio-economic condition.
We plan several artistic workshops, games, exhibitions, as well as theoretical reflection meetings as complementing activities in each edition of our initiative.
